Level One Yoga Teacher Training-Overview
Level 1 200 hours internationally approved by Yoga Alliance.
About the yoga teacher training
This yoga teacher training is for you if;
.You seek a training that is run using the precepts of respect, fairness and integrity towards all involved
.You and are seeking excellence and depth in your understanding of yoga, and wish to see yoga teachers respected as experts in their field.
This yoga teacher training will have a strong focus on injury prevention , and yoga for individual needs. As a result of this training, you will understand how to create a practice that addresses specific areas of tightness and/or weakness for each individual student...not just how to teach a generalised yoga sequence with a 'one-size fits all' attitude!
The Level One 200 Hour training leads into the Level Two 300 hour training which has a strong focus on Yoga Therapy. For more info on Level 2 please select Level Two from the left hand menu.
There will be a pre-requisite level of self awareness required, supported by at least two years of dedicated consistent yoga practice to be accepted as an applicant for this training.
How do I choose between all of the Teacher Trainings on offer?
There are many teacher trainings out there. They broadly fall into two categories; those that are run purely as a business venture, and aim to attract the largest number of students possible for the minimum outlay to the school per student, and those that are offered with a sincere desire to impart knowledge at the highest standard possible.
This training represents a distillation of understanding aquired through Flo's life journey in yoga and healing. It's aim will be to raise the standard of teacher trainings and to impart a higher level of understanding than is usually taught.
What Differentiates this Training from other Yoga Teacher Trainings?
. Much smaller student numbers than on most trainings (max 16 in Byron or 20 in Brisbane in the same venues at which most other trainings accept twice that number)
. ALL teachers on the course are highly experienced, senior teachers who LIVE yoga (many trainings offered in the area employ junior teachers)
.There is currently only ONE residential teacher training intensive and ONE part time teacher training offered per year, ensuring freshness and full enthusiasm from all of the teachers invloved.
.Meals offered on the residential training are organic, and freshly prepared by chefs who are payed at their requested rate, and given ample time to prepare the meals, ensuring that the food is full of love and good energy (on other teacher trainings this is not always the case!)
.Learning to teach at a much higher level than is offered on most level one trainings
. Learning to teach in a way that can be modified to suit individual needs.
What differentiates this training above all else is its focus on learning how to MODIFY the classical practice of yoga to suit the needs of the individual. Flo Fenton has long been known for her ability to adapt the practice of yoga using props and variations of the classical postures, as well as using supplementary yoga practices and pranic work towards a specific outcome. In this way those with physical limitations, injuries or deeper health issues are able to safely and beneficially use yoga as a tool towards optimal health and well-being. This ability to adapt the practice to suit individual needs was at the heart of the teachings of Sri T Krishnamacharya, the teacher of BKS Iyengar, Sri K Pattbhi Jois, and TVK Desikachar. It is the basis of what is now called Yoga Therapy .
The aim of this training will be to lay the foundations of understanding both the subject and ourselves, so that we may then offer guidance to others.
The course is offered in two formats;
1.Redidential Intensive format- 2 x 2 week blocks, October 2012 and July 2013. Please choose 'Residential Intensive' from the left hand menu
2. One day per week format- March to December 2012 in Suffolk Park. Please choose 'One Day a Week' from the left hand menu.
